Jason Shippee is a club-level driver who raced in American Endurance Racing and NASA between 2016 and 2018. In endurance racing, he competed in production-car classes across American Endurance Racing's multiclass grid, sharing cars in Class 3, 4 and 5 machinery. In NASA, he raced solo in the GTS2 class, driving German cars mostly BMWs and Porsches, in the same multiclass national championship. His racing career spans ten starts across both series.[1]
Shippee took five podiums from ten starts. Three of those came in his first indexed season, NASA in 2016, where he finished 21st in the championship standings. His remaining two podiums came in American Endurance Racing between 2017 and 2018, competing in the shared-driver endurance format against fields mixing amateurs with graded professionals. He finished ahead of Dorrian Weaver, a fellow club-level regular, in multiple meetings. He also beat Thomas Lee once; Lee is a semi-professional who has won American Endurance Racing championships in Class 2.[2]
Against Scott Blair, a club-level NASA regular with significantly more experience in the series, Shippee typically finished behind him. The strength of the fields he raced in, multiclass grids that included entry-level professionals and semi-professionals, placed his club-level performances in context against drivers of both his own standing and those with stronger credentials.
