Karl Poeltl raced in PCA Club Racing, a national multiclass championship where amateur and semi-professional entrants share the grid with graded professionals. He competed in the E, F and I classes, which run Porsche machinery, across eight seasons from 2004 to 2011. Poeltl was a semi-professional driver racing at the club level.[1]
Over 35 starts in PCA Club Racing, Poeltl took 23 wins and 31 podiums. He was a front-runner within his peer group, regularly finishing ahead of the regular competitors he faced most often, including Steve Boris and Chris Reinsborough, both club-level drivers with more extensive records in the series. He also beat stronger opposition on occasion; he finished ahead of Steve Katz twice and Michael Martin twice, both competitive amateur drivers with broader racing backgrounds including international GT racing in Martin's case. His final indexed season was 2011, when he took two wins and three podiums across three rounds and finished eighth in the championship standings.[2]
