John Giannone raced in PCA Club Racing, a national multiclass championship mixing amateur and professional drivers across sixteen classes in each race. He drove Porsches in the C, GTB1, and I classes as a competitive amateur over nineteen seasons from 2005 to 2024, accumulating 83 starts, 10 wins, and 36 podiums before retiring.[1]

Giannone's record spans two decades of steady club racing. His ten wins and thirty-six podiums came entirely in PCA Club Racing. In his final season, 2024, he took a win and two podiums from three rounds and finished fifteenth in the championship standings. He was a regular fixture in the series and competed frequently against Franklin Pray, a similarly skilled competitive amateur with whom he was closely matched, and against Carl Tallardy, a developing driver whom he typically outran.[2]

Across his career Giannone occasionally raced ahead of entry-level professionals. He beat John Gilliland, an FIA Bronze driver who has competed in PCA Club Racing, GT World Challenge America and Porsche Sprint Challenge events, six times; and finished ahead of Natasha Balogh, an FIA Silver driver active in NASA and PCA Club Racing, once. These encounters were exceptions in a record built primarily against fellow amateurs and club-level competitors at his own level.
