Kevin Gleason is a semi-professional racing driver who competed in single-driver national and international touring car series. He drove for RC Motorsport in the World Touring Car Championship in 2017, piloting a Lada in a single-class field that mixed amateurs and professionals. His earlier racing came in NASA's multiclass national championship between 2008 and 2011, where he raced Mazda MX-5 Miatas and closed-wheel touring cars across multiple classes on the same track.[1]
Across 27 starts spread over nine years, Gleason took two podiums; one came in his NASA tenure and one in his final season in the World Touring Car Championship. He competed in WTCC for an 18-round campaign in 2017, finishing 12th in the championship standings with that single podium finish. The bulk of his recorded racing lies in that WTCC season rather than in his earlier NASA outings.[2]
Gleason's World Touring Car Championship calendar put him alongside established professionals including the 2017 series champion Thed Bjork and Esteban Guerrieri, a Platinum-graded driver and double-title holder in Indy NXT and the FIA World Touring Car Cup. He finished behind both drivers in the majority of their meetings, though he beat each of them once across the season. RC Motorsport, the team that fielded him, has produced four wins and counted among its drivers the established professional Laurens Vanthoor.
