🇬🇧 Tom Chilton

Tom Chilton is a professional racing driver competing in the British Touring Car Championship for Team VERTU in a single-class national championship. His career spans 15 seasons from 2012 to 2026, predominantly in touring car racing across the BTCC and the World Touring Car Championship.[1]

Chilton has taken 14 wins and 51 podiums across 427 starts. His strongest season came in 2017 in the World Touring Car Championship, where he finished second in the championship standings with three wins and seven podiums from 20 rounds. In the BTCC, where he has spent the bulk of his career since 2017, he has recorded seven wins and 22 podiums across 291 starts. He finished runner-up to established professionals multiple times but never won the BTCC title. His performance against the series' top drivers has been consistent if often unrewarding; he regularly finished behind Ash Sutton, a four-time BTCC champion, though he was closely matched with fellow professional Aiden Moffat over their shared seasons. He also beat 2017 World Touring Car Championship winner Thed Bjork on 16 occasions across their careers.[2]

The BTCC grid has fielded graded professionals alongside semi-professional and amateur competitors throughout Chilton's tenure. He was a regular front-runner within that field but typically found himself outpaced by the strongest established professionals in the championship. Team VERTU, his main outfit in recent seasons, has fielded only modest resources; Chilton was its strongest asset, and the team's three wins across its indexed history all came with him. He announced his retirement from touring car racing after the 2026 Brands Hatch round.
