Lonnie Pechnik is a retired entry-level professional racing in multiclass national championships. He drove LMP3 prototypes for P1 Motorsports in the IMSA Prototype Challenge and raced GT4.R specification Porsche 911 GT3 R machinery in International GT. He holds an FIA Bronze rating, the amateur grade within endurance and GT racing.[1]
Pechnik's record spans two seasons and six starts. He took one podium in four appearances in the IMSA Prototype Challenge in 2017 with P1 Motorsports, and returned in 2022 to race International GT, where he finished tenth in the season standings with one podium from two rounds.[2]
His racing brought him into regular contact with Colin Thompson, the 2017 IMSA Prototype Challenge LMP3 champion and a professional-rated driver who was a frequent competitor; Pechnik usually finished behind Thompson but beat him once. He also raced against Andres Gutierrez, another entry-level professional, typically finishing behind him as well. Among the few occasions he ran ahead of stronger opposition was a single finish over Reg Williams, an entry-level professional established in both club racing and International GT.
