Colin Thompson was a professional endurance racing driver who competed in IMSA's national multiclass championships between 2014 and 2019. He raced primarily in prototype classes, campaigning an LMP3 car for Forty7 Motorsports in IMSA Prototype Challenge, an Oreca FLM09 for BAR 1 Motorsports in IMSA WeatherTech, and a production-based ST car for Bodymotion Racing in IMSA Pilot Challenge; he also made two club-level starts in PCA Club Racing driving a Porsche in 2014. Thompson held an FIA Silver rating, a grading that places him below the full-professional Gold and Platinum ranks but indicates a driver competing regularly alongside established professionals.[1]
Thompson's record shows a peak in IMSA Prototype Challenge, where he won the LMP3 championship in 2017 across 13 starts, taking two race wins and ten podium finishes. His earlier endurance campaign in IMSA WeatherTech yielded one podium from three starts in the PC prototype class. His principal ride through much of his career came with Kelly-Moss Road and Race, a team that fielded 25 drivers across the index and won 20 races, its strongest driver being the established professional Seb Priaulx.
