Michael McGahern is a club-level driver racing in SCCA regional and major championships, a national multiclass single-seater series in the United States. He drives spec Mazda MX-5 Miatas and one-design Spec Racer Fords across the SM, SRF3 and SRFx classes. His racing spans four seasons from 2022 to 2025.[1]
McGahern has recorded 47 starts with 3 wins and 10 podiums across SCCA Regionals and Majors. In SCCA Regionals, where he has concentrated his effort with 31 starts, he has taken all three of his wins and eight podiums. His 2025 campaign in SCCA Regionals has yielded two wins and three podiums from ten rounds raced to date, placing him 35th in the championship standings.[2]
His regular competition has been against club and developing drivers including Ethan Bentinck-Smith, a fellow club-level regular with 51 SCCA Regionals starts, and Gary Vizioli, a developing driver with extensive experience across SCCA and Lucas Oil Formula Car racing. McGahern has also beaten entry-level professionals including Preston Pardus, a three-time SCCA Runoffs SM champion who has also raced in NASCAR Xfinity, and Frankie Barroso, an established SCCA Majors regular with experience in the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup.
