🇩🇪 Michael Uelwer

Michael Uelwer was a competitive amateur racing in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, a national multiclass endurance championship where crewed cars run across fifteen classes on the same track. He raced Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport cars in the Cup 3 class, modified production-based machinery in SP 3 and H2, and appeared once in the Nürburgring 24 Hours in 2019.[1]

Over ten seasons from 2013 to 2022, Uelwer started fifty times and took three wins and twenty podiums, all but one of those starts in the Langstrecken-Serie. His record was built in the Porsche Cup 3 class and the production-based categories, where he finished on the podium in roughly two-fifths of his races. He was a regular in the series throughout that decade, though he most often finished behind the drivers he raced most frequently; semi-professional Gerrit Holthaus, a two-time class champion, and Tobias Overbeck, a competitive amateur who won the SP 3 title in 2017 and H2 in 2018, both regularly outpaced him.[2]

The field at the Nürburgring mixed amateurs and semi-professionals with graded professionals, and Uelwer's podium finishes placed him in the middle ranks of that spread. Twice he finished ahead of significantly stronger drivers: he beat established professional and FIA Platinum-graded Kazuki Nakajima, a three-time WEC LMP1 champion and former Formula 1 driver, and he finished ahead of Gold-graded professional Maxime Soulet, a GT World Challenge Europe competitor. His strongest results came with Car #630, which accounted for seventeen of his fifty starts.
