Myron Fohr was an American single-seater racing driver whose recorded career consists of a single Formula 1 start in 1950 for the Marchese team. He finished twenty-third in that outing at a time when the world championship grid was substantially smaller than the fields he knew from his primary racing category.[1]
Fohr's competitive standing rests on his Indy car record rather than his Formula 1 appearance. He was a contender in the AAA National Championship, finishing as runner-up in both 1948 and 1949 and twice qualifying for the Indianapolis 500. His one-off venture into Formula 1 produced a result against a class of driver substantially stronger than his home-series peers: he finished ahead of Jim Rathmann, Duane Carter, Jack McGrath, and Jimmy Davies, all of whom held professional ratings well above 4,500. That single classification, however, offers limited insight into his standing in the world championship. With only that one race on record, Fohr's Formula 1 career remains a footnote to his achievements in American single-seater racing.[2]
