Thomas Melendrez is a club-level driver racing in SVRA, a multiclass championship run entirely in the United States with five classes sharing the track in a single race. He competes solo, without a co-driver, in the Group 5 7 11 and Group 9 classes.[1]
Melendrez has three indexed seasons, from 2024 through 2026, with eleven career starts and six podiums. His 2026 campaign is still underway: through six rounds raced so far he has taken a podium in every one and currently sits 23rd in the championship standings, with rounds still to come.[2]
Among the drivers he meets most often, Melendrez is closely matched with R Bruce Hamilton, a competitive amateur who has also raced in SCCA Majors, and he usually finishes ahead of Scott Dick, a fellow club-level regular. His most notable results came against stronger opposition passing through the same field: he has finished ahead of Nathan Byrd, an entry-level professional graded FIA Silver who won the 2023 International GT GT3.8 championship and has also raced in NASCAR Truck and NASCAR Xfinity, and of Jonathan Klein, an entry-level professional with a long record in the Star Mazda Championship, in one meeting apiece.
