Tyler Zankl is a developing amateur racer competing in national-level American single-seater sprint racing. He races Mazda MX-5 Miatas in spec trim across SCCA Majors, SCCA Regionals, and NASA championships, driving for team 6 in part of his career.[1]
Zankl's indexed racing spans 2021 and 2022, with 12 starts across three series. He raced NASA's Spec Miata class three times in 2021, then moved to SCCA competition the following year; he contested seven SCCA Majors rounds and two SCCA Regionals rounds in 2022, finishing 98th in the Regionals championship that season. He was regularly matched against Aaron Parkinson, a developing driver with similar experience across the same series, and typically finished ahead of Trevor Zankl, another competitor in his class. In his limited time at the wheel, he finished ahead of Preston Pardus, a three-time SCCA Runoffs SM champion and entry-level professional, and once beat Sam Craven, a GT4 America Pro-Am champion and established professional with significant experience in both SCCA Majors and national sportscar racing.[2]
