Brent Sherman is an entry-level professional competing in solo sprint racing on ovals and road courses in the United States. He spent nineteen seasons in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving primarily for Braun Racing, with a single start in the ARCA Menards Series in 2016. His career totaled 63 starts across both championships.[1]

Sherman's record in the NASCAR Xfinity Series spans from 2004 to 2023, though with significant gaps in activity. He remained an oval-course specialist, with 58 of his 62 Xfinity starts on ovals rather than road or street courses. His most recent appearance came in 2023 when he finished 35th in the season standings. Throughout his time in the series, he raced against established professionals and entry-level competitors alike, regularly finishing behind drivers such as Carl Edwards, who won the Xfinity title twice, and J.J. Yeley, a career driver across NASCAR's national series. Sherman nonetheless finished ahead of Denny Hamlin, the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series champion, on five occasions, and beat Tony Stewart, an established professional, the same number of times across their meetings.[2]

The teams Sherman drove for fielded competitive but not dominant equipment. McGill Motorsports, which ran him for nearly half his starts, has not recorded a race win across its entire operation and fielded established professional Massimiliano Papis as its strongest driver. The combination of limited starts, long gaps between seasons, and mid-field competition against drivers who moved on to higher series defines his career trajectory through the Xfinity field.
