Charles Espenlaub is a semi-professional racing driver at FIA Silver level competing in international and domestic multiclass endurance racing. He drives primarily for CP Racing in the 24H Series, a global 13-round championship in which he pilots Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and GT3 cars shared with teammates across its mixed amateur and professional field. He also competes in the IMSA Pilot Challenge, IMSA WeatherTech, Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, and Porsche Endurance Challenge North America, campaigns that place him across multiple continents and formats.[1]
Over a 14-season career spanning 2013 to the present, Espenlaub has compiled 10 wins and 33 podiums from 84 starts. His primary success comes in the 24H Series, where he holds the 2018 championship with PROsport Performance and has posted 10 wins and 27 podiums in 43 entries for CP Racing since 2017. His record in the IMSA series is more modest; he took one podium in 11 Pilot Challenge starts and none in nine WeatherTech entries in 2014. A return to Porsche single-marque racing brought three podiums in three starts for HM Road Racing in Porsche Endurance Challenge North America in 2025 and 2026, demonstrating consistency in that format.[2]
Espenlaub races regularly against Pierre Kaffer, an entry-level professional with Gold credentials who has contested the WEC and is a repeat 24H Series competitor; Kaffer typically finishes ahead. He is closely matched with fellow 24H Series regular Max Edelhoff. His strongest scalps include finishes over Jake Dennis, the 2023 Formula E champion and established professional now based in single-seaters, and Kevin Estre, a Platinum-graded two-time WEC champion with extensive IMSA and endurance pedigree, whom Espenlaub has beaten four times across their shared 24H Series entries. CP Racing, his main team, has fielded eight drivers and won 22 races in the indexed record, with Xavier Maassen among its strongest competitors.
