Pierre Kaffer is a professional endurance racing driver rated FIA Gold, the full-professional grade within sportscar and endurance racing. He races primarily in multiclass GT championships, driving GT3 machinery for teams including Sainteloc Junior Team in the 24H Series and M Racing in the Le Mans Cup. His main career has centred on the World Endurance Championship and its international equivalents, where he has competed since 2000.[1]
Kaffer's record spans 21 seasons and 136 starts across a range of GT and endurance series. In the WEC he took two wins and eight podiums across 34 starts for Risi Competizione between 2012 and 2017. The 24H Series has been his most active platform in recent seasons; he has scored two wins and 14 podiums in 27 starts since 2017, placing him consistently among the finishers in a multiclass field that mixes amateur and professional entrants on the same grid. He has also raced IMSA WeatherTech, winning once in 22 starts, and taken a Nürburgring 24 Hours victory in six appearances. His most recent indexed activity was a WEC round in 2017 where he finished twentieth in championship standings.[2]
Kaffer regularly meets established and full-professional rivals in his primary series. He is closely matched with Christopher Haase, an FIA Platinum professional who has raced extensively in GT Masters and Nürburgring endurance racing. Against Richard Westbrook, the 2015 IMSA WeatherTech champion and a Platinum-graded peer with more than 80 starts in that series, Kaffer typically finishes behind. His endurance record includes rare outings against drivers of far greater renown; he finished ahead of Max Verstappen once in a 2019 Nürburgring start, and beat Kyle Kirkwood, an elite professional and three-time Indy series champion, in a single shared-car endurance meeting.
