🇧🇪 Laurens Vanthoor

Laurens Vanthoor is an elite professional sportscar driver competing in international multiclass endurance racing for Porsche Penske Motorsport. Graded Platinum by the FIA, he races GT and Hypercar machinery in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship. His career spans 18 seasons across 193 starts, with particular depth in endurance racing since 2015.[1]

Vanthoor has won three world championships: the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech title, the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech title with Pfaff Motorsports, and the 2024 WEC Hypercar championship alongside Kévin Estre and André Lotterer. In IMSA he has accumulated 14 wins and 33 podiums across 67 starts, while in the WEC he holds 4 wins and 11 podiums from 30 starts. He also raced Formula 3 in 2010 and 2011, collecting 9 podiums across 41 starts in the Euro Series and contending against established professionals and future single-seater champions. His early career included three Stock Car Pro Series starts in Brazil and a spell in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, where he won six races across 17 starts. He competed in DTM for a season in 2022 and has taken wins in both the GT World Challenge Europe and the Nürburgring 24 Hours.[2]

Vanthoor's standing in endurance racing is demonstrated by consistent company with the strongest graded professionals in the field. He finished ahead of Alex Palou, an elite professional and multiple IndyCar champion, seven times across their careers. He also beat Max Verstappen, a generational driver and multiple Formula 1 world champion, once in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie. In the current 2025 WEC season, he has taken one win and three podiums across eight rounds to date, sitting third in the championship standings.
