Marco Wittmann is an established professional and FIA Platinum-graded driver competing primarily in DTM for Schubert Motorsport, where he has taken 10 wins across 127 starts since 2018. He also races in endurance and sportscar championships including the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, IMSA WeatherTech, WEC and GT World Challenge Europe, driving BMW machinery. His Racer Rating of 5,755 places him among the stronger drivers on the grid; he holds the 2011 FIA Formula 3 European championship won with Signature.[1]
Wittmann's 17-season career spans from his junior formula debut in 2009 through to the present day. He won the 2011 Formula 3 European title after three seasons in the series, taking six wins and 23 podiums across 62 starts. His transition to national and international racing saw him become a DTM mainstay from 2018 onwards, where he has consistently scored; beyond DTM he has taken wins in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and GT World Challenge Europe, with multiple podium finishes in endurance racing including the IMSA WeatherTech and WEC. His single-seater career also included outings at Formula 3 Macau, where he won once.[2]
In DTM, Wittmann races in a field that regularly includes Rene Rast and Sheldon van der Linde, both FIA Platinum-graded established professionals and multiple DTM champions; he typically finishes behind Rast but is closely matched with van der Linde. Early in his career he finished ahead of Max Verstappen at the 2011 Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, a result from Verstappen's single-seater years before his rise to Formula 1 dominance. His endurance record shows he can run among graded professionals in multiclass competition, taking podiums in IMSA and WEC alongside stronger single-seater specialists stepping into prototypes.
