René Rast, an Austrian driver, competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship with BMW M Team WRT. Before moving into sports car racing at this level, he built a reputation through a career that included three DTM titles, in 2017, 2019 and 2020, along with overall victories at the 24 Hours of Spa in 2012 and 2014, an overall win at the 2014 24 Hours of Nürburgring, and class wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2012 and 2016. That background in touring cars and endurance racing shaped his transition into the WEC prototype ranks.[1]
