Lucas Auer is a Platinum-graded professional endurance and sportscar racing driver competing across multiple series for Mercedes-AMG. He races in the GT World Challenge Europe for Winward Racing, DTM for Team Landgraf, and endurance championships including the Asian Le Mans Series and IMSA WeatherTech, where he shares multiclass or single-class GT cars. His record spans thirteen seasons from 2012 to the present, with 250 starts across a wide range of formula single-seaters, saloon cars and production-based machinery.[1]
Auer won the overall and sprint championship in GT World Challenge Europe in 2024, taking six wins across his 40 starts in that series and 18 podium finishes. In DTM, where he has made 104 starts for Mercedes-AMG, he has seven wins and 23 podiums over nine seasons. His endurance racing includes two wins in IMSA WeatherTech and two in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, with podium finishes also at Macau's Formula 3 round and in Asian Le Mans. His early career included single-seater racing in FIA Formula 3 European and the Euro Series, where he took four wins and 22 podiums across 62 starts, and one season in Japan's Super Formula as a Red Bull Junior Team member.[2]
Auer is a regular against Marco Wittmann, the former Formula 3 European and multi-series professional, with whom he is closely matched in head-to-head racing; he usually finishes ahead of Platinum-graded GT Masters and GT World Challenge driver Ricardo Feller. Among the strongest drivers he has raced, he has finished ahead of Max Verstappen nine times across their shared races in the Nürburgring series and GT World Challenge, and beaten Álex Palou three times in Formula 3 European competition. Auer's endurance record is shared-car racing that carries the finishing positions of his co-drivers, but his record in solo series and his consistent performance across professional fields places him as a front-running competitor in the sportscar and touring car categories he inhabits.
