George Eaton was a Canadian Formula 1 driver who competed in the world championship for three seasons between 1969 and 1971, amassing eleven starts with the BRM team. His record yielded no wins or podium finishes, and he averaged a twelfth-place finish across his classified appearances. The calibre of drivers he raced against was substantial; his grid included multiple front-running professionals of that era such as Chris Amon, François Cevert, and Jacky Ickx, all of whom finished ahead of him in their shared races. Eaton managed occasional competitive results against drivers of comparable standing, notably outfinishing Jean-Pierre Beltoise, Henri Pescarolo, and Ignazio Giunti once each, and on one occasion finishing ahead of three-time world champion Jack Brabham.[1]
Eaton's tenure at BRM coincided with a period when the team fielded competitive machinery and retained drivers of the calibre of Jackie Stewart, though Eaton himself did not establish a lasting presence in the championship. His final Formula 1 appearance came in 1971, finishing twenty-third in that round. He is a member of the prominent Canadian Eaton family and has since become associated with historic motorsport preservation, having been inducted into the USRRC Hall of Fame.[2]
