Christophe Tinseau is a retired French racing driver who raced solo in Formula 3 and International Formula 3000, and shared cars in endurance championships including the FIA GT Championship and WEC. He holds an FIA Silver grade, the intermediate sportscar classification between amateur and full professional. Over eight seasons from 1993 to 2023, he accumulated 27 starts across four series.[1]
His record spans two distinct eras of his career. In the mid-1990s, he raced International Formula 3000 for Apomatox, a team that fielded established professionals including Jean-Christophe Boullion; Tinseau took one win and two podiums from 18 starts there. He also made three starts in Formula 3 Macau in 1993. A gap of several years preceded his return to racing in endurance competition; he contested the FIA GT Championship from 1998 to 2001 with Freisinger Motorsport, taking three starts. His final indexed racing came in WEC, where he scored one win and two podiums from two starts between 2012 and 2016 driving GT machinery for SRT41 By OAK Racing. A single start in the 24H Series GT3 class in 2023 marked the end of his racing record.[2]
In International Formula 3000, Tinseau raced closely with Christian Pescatori, a professional with 26 starts in the series, and regularly finished behind Marc Goossens, a Gold-graded professional who went on to race in IMSA and contested 39 Formula 3000 starts. He beat Martin Brundle, an established professional with a Formula 1 career of 158 races, on one occasion, and defeated Michael Bartels, a three-time FIA GT Championship winner, once in endurance racing.
