🇺🇸 Bryan Herta

Bryan Herta is an established professional who raced in the IndyCar Series for Andretti Green Racing between 2003 and 2006. He competed in a national, single-class championship that ran a mixed field of amateur, semi-professional and graded professionals; his 58 starts were predominantly on ovals, with occasional road and street course racing. Herta held an FIA Bronze grade, positioning him as an amateur within the structure of international sportscar and endurance racing.[1]

Over four seasons Herta took two wins and seven podiums. He was a regular fixture in the series and typically ran mid-field against established professionals; he finished 12th in the championship standings in 2006, his final season. Among the fastest drivers he encountered were two-time IndyCar champions Sam Hornish Jr., with whom he was closely matched, and Dan Wheldon, the 2005 champion, against whom Herta usually finished behind. He also raced repeatedly against Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon, both of whom would become four-time or five-time champions; across his career Herta finished ahead of Franchitti in 16 races and Dixon in 29, though both were significantly stronger than him over their shared seasons. Andretti Green Racing, the team he drove for in 44 of his 58 starts, won three consecutive IndyCar constructors' championships during the period he raced for them.[2]
