🇨🇦 Scott Goodyear

Scott Goodyear is a retired Canadian racing driver who competed in IndyCar between 1997 and 2001. Racing for Team Cheever and Panther Racing, he drove single-seater open-wheel cars exclusively on oval circuits. At an established professional level with a rating of 5,665, Goodyear operated in a field mixing amateurs and graded professionals on the same grid.[1]

Over five seasons, Goodyear took three wins and twelve podiums from 39 starts, finishing 28th in the final IndyCar standings in 2001. His best results came on the oval circuit where he won twice at the Michigan 500, in 1992 and 1994. He also finished second in the Indianapolis 500 on two occasions. Against the established professionals who made up the core of his competition, Goodyear held his own; he regularly raced Buddy Lazier, the 2000 IndyCar champion, on level terms, and proved closely matched with Eddie Cheever across multiple seasons.[2]

Goodyear's record included results against stronger established drivers such as 1997 IndyCar champion Tony Stewart and 1995 International Formula 3000 champion Vincenzo Sospiri. The majority of his starts came with Panther Racing, a mid-field team that won fifteen races across the index with Dan Wheldon as its strongest driver in the broader record.
