Bottas is an established professional in single-seater racing, rated 5,799 and now racing Formula 1 for Cadillac. He holds Platinum grade in FIA endurance classification, the highest professional level. His indexed career spans seventeen seasons from 2008 to the present, beginning with title-winning campaigns in Formula Renault Eurocup and GP3 Series before moving into Formula 1 in 2013.[1]
He took the 2008 Formula Renault Eurocup championship with five wins from thirteen starts, then the 2011 GP3 Series title with four wins and seven podiums across sixteen rounds, both with professional teams in top-tier junior machinery. His open-wheel apprenticeship also included thirty-four starts in the Formula 3 Euro Series across 2009 and 2010, where he scored two wins and fourteen podiums in a field mixing amateurs with graded professionals. Across those junior campaigns he accumulated 21 wins from 99 podiums in 327 total starts. His Formula 1 career, beginning in 2013, has run to 258 starts with 10 wins and 67 podiums, twice finishing runner-up in the World Drivers' Championship during his time with Mercedes.[2]
In his established years Bottas has raced regularly alongside generational-tier drivers. He finished behind Lewis Hamilton consistently during their years as teammates, while proving closely matched with elite professional Sergio Pérez over multiple seasons. He has also finished ahead of generational-tier rivals including Lando Norris and George Russell across their shared Formula 1 campaigns; Bottas beat Norris 50 times and Russell 47 times in head-to-head competition, though both drivers have significantly longer current records in the series. His current move to Cadillac marks a fresh chapter in his Formula 1 tenure.
