Kevin Magnussen is an established professional racing driver, Platinum-graded in endurance competition. He races for BMW M Team WRT in the FIA World Endurance Championship and competes part-time in NASCAR, while maintaining an active career across multiple international series. His primary indexed racing has been in Formula 1, where he spent eleven seasons across two stints with Haas F1 Team.[1]

Magnussen's record spans eighteen seasons from 2009 to the present. He won the Formula V8 3.5 championship in 2013 while driving for DAMS, taking six wins across two seasons in that series. In Formula 1, he made 186 starts for Haas across 2014 to 2020 and 2022 to 2024, earning a single podium. His move to endurance racing alongside his second Formula 1 tenure brought two podiums in IMSA WeatherTech and a win in the WEC; he currently leads the 2026 WEC championship after six rounds, with two podiums so far in that campaign.[2]

In Formula 1, Magnussen regularly raced against generational drivers including Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, finishing behind Hamilton consistently but beating Verstappen once, and competed alongside the established professional Valtteri Bottas, generally trailing him. His endurance record has placed him in fields with drivers holding significant GT and sportscar credentials at the Platinum level, the same professional grade. The contrast between his single-lap results in Formula 1 and his success in longer-format racing reflects the different demands of those disciplines; a recent airborne crash at Petit Le Mans came after contact during wheel-to-wheel racing at speed.
