Christian Zugel is a competitive amateur who raced in national and international multiclass endurance and sprint championships. He made seven starts in PCA Club Racing, a national championship mixing amateur and professional drivers in shared-grid racing, driving Porsches in the GTC3 and GTC4 classes between 2006 and 2007. He then moved to the World Endurance Championship, where he competed for Greaves Motorsport in LMP2 prototypes across 2012 and 2013, taking ten starts before retiring from indexed racing.[1]
Zugel's record in the WEC placed him 14th in championship standings in 2013. His career brought him into regular competition with established professionals; he was closely matched against Olivier Pla, a Platinum-graded driver with extensive experience in the WEC and IMSA, and against Jacques Nicolet, a professional with twenty WEC starts. On occasion he finished ahead of drivers of considerably higher standing, including established professional Martin Brundle, a former Formula 1 driver, and Bertrand Baguette, a Platinum-graded professional and two-time champion across Super GT and Formula V8 3.5.[2]
