Claus Grönning raced in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, a national multiclass endurance championship in which two or more drivers share each car across the race distance. He competed as a competitive amateur in the Cup 3 class, driving Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport machinery for roadrunner racing GmbH.[1]
Grönning made four starts in the series between 2011 and 2013 and took one podium finish. He finished 20th in the championship standings in 2013, his most recent season of racing.[2]
He raced primarily alongside Holger Goedicke, a comparable competitive amateur, and was usually outpaced by Robert Lommel, also in the same amateur band but a more regular competitor in the series. Among the stronger drivers he encountered, he finished ahead of Gerrit Holthaus, a semi-professional who later won two separate Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie titles in different classes.
