Dave Tooker is a semi-professional racing in a national multiclass sprint championship. He competes in the SCCA's SMX class, driving a spec 2006–2015 Mazda MX-5 in both the Majors series and Regionals series. His racing career on record spans two seasons, from 2023 through 2024, across fourteen starts with two wins and eight podiums.[1]
Tooker won once in the SCCA Regionals in 2023 and finished third in the championship standings that year; he then moved to the SCCA Majors, where he won again over the 2023–2024 season and took five podiums across ten starts. He consistently outran the semi-professional regulars he encountered most often, finishing ahead of both Michael Neumeyer and Ryan Gutile in their meetings. He also beat Cam Ebben, the 2026 SCCA Runoffs SMX champion, twice; and took a win over Ethan Jacobs, an entry-level professional with significant experience in both the Majors and the Whelen Mazda Cup.[2]
