Derek Carmenate was a competitive amateur who finished in the front of club racing; his rating of 2,043 places him at that level of the scale. His career on record consisted of a single start in the 2016 SKUSA SuperNationals, where he finished tenth overall. That solitary result is remarkable for its competition. Carmenate finished ahead of Franco Colapinto, then competing at elite professional level and later prominent in international Formula 3 and IndyCar; ahead of Broc Feeney, who would go on to win the 2025 Supercars Championship as a Gold-graded professional; ahead of Jonny Edgar, a Silver-graded professional and champion of both the 2020 ADAC Formula 4 and the 2024 European Le Mans Series LMP2; and ahead of Vlad Lomko, a professional-level driver. One race is too small a sample to claim a pattern, and Carmenate's rating reflects that the field contained vastly stronger drivers overall. He is retired from competition.[1]
