Franco Colapinto is an elite professional competing in Formula 1 for Alpine, where he has made 42 starts across three seasons from 2024 to 2026. Platinum-graded under FIA classification, he races solo in the sport's single-class championship. His career began in junior single-seaters, where he spent five seasons in Formula Renault Eurocup, Formula Regional European, Formula 3 and Formula 2, alongside brief campaigns in endurance racing with shared-car entries in the European Le Mans Series and World Endurance Championship.[1]

In junior racing Colapinto took 4 wins and 10 podiums across 36 Formula 3 starts with MP Motorsport, his most prolific series in the junior categories. He added 2 wins in Formula Regional European, 2 in Formula Renault Eurocup and 1 in Formula 2, collecting 28 podiums across 10 seasons and 148 starts before his Formula 1 debut. He finished the 2021 World Endurance Championship season 23rd in the standings after two rounds in an LMP2 prototype shared with teammates at G-Drive Racing.[2]

Colapinto's junior record places him among drivers who have graduated to Formula 1 after closely fought campaigns in the support categories. He raced regularly against Gabriel Bortoleto, the 2023 Formula 3 champion and 2024 Formula 2 champion now competing in Formula 1, and against Isack Hadjar, a Platinum-graded professional with 36 Formula 1 starts. At the top of the grid he has finished ahead of both Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, the latter a generational talent and 2025 Formula 1 champion.
