Gabriel Bortoleto is an elite professional racing driver competing in Formula 1 for Audi, holding FIA Platinum grading. The Brazilian has spent eight seasons in indexed racing from Italian Formula 4 through to the top tier, winning championships in Formula 3 in 2023 and Formula 2 in 2024 before stepping up to Formula 1 in 2025.[1]

Bortoleto's rise through the junior categories was consistent. He took a win and five podiums across 18 starts in Italian F4 in 2020, then progressed to Formula Regional European where he scored two wins and six podiums over two seasons with R-ace GP. In Formula 3, he won the 2023 championship with Trident, claiming two victories and six podiums in 18 starts. He followed this immediately with the Formula 2 title the next year, taking eight podiums including two wins across 28 rounds with Invicta Racing. His passage from Formula 3 to Formula 2 champion in consecutive seasons placed him among the strongest junior prospects entering Formula 1.[2]

In Formula 1, Bortoleto entered a field including other elite professionals and the occasional generational talent. He had raced regularly against Franco Colapinto and Isack Hadjar throughout his junior career, both Platinum-graded rivals who also reached Formula 1; he was closely matched with each of them in their shared categories. Earlier in his climb, he finished ahead of George Russell, the 2018 Formula 2 champion and a generational driver now established in Formula 1, on one occasion, and ahead of Lando Norris, the 2025 Formula 1 champion, twice during their overlapping junior racing.
