🇮🇹 Leonardo Fornaroli

Leonardo Fornaroli is an elite professional racing driver competing in single-seater championships across Europe. He won the 2024 Formula 3 championship with Trident and took the 2025 Formula 2 title with Invicta Racing, combining to secure four wins and nine podiums from 29 Formula 2 starts across both seasons. He currently serves as a reserve driver for McLaren in Formula One.[1]

Fornaroli's progression through the junior categories began in 2020 with Italian F4 and ADAC Formula 4, where he took a win and nine podiums combined from 45 starts. He then competed in Formula Regional European in 2022 before stepping up to Formula 3 in 2023, where he scored 10 podiums across two seasons and won the championship in his final year. His breakthrough to Formula 2 began in 2024 and continued through 2025, establishing him as a frontrunning competitor at that level.[2]

Against his most frequent rivals, Fornaroli typically finishes ahead of Sebastian Montoya, an established professional with 125 single-seater starts across the three series they share; he runs closely matched with Dino Beganovic, another established professional and 2022 Formula Regional European champion. Fornaroli has beaten Andrea Kimi Antonelli, a generational talent who won the 2023 Formula Regional European championship and competed in 40 Formula One races, on five occasions in their shared categories. His rise through junior single-seaters has coincided with increasing visibility at the highest level, culminating in his current role as a Formula One reserve.
