Sebastian Montoya is a Colombian-American racing driver currently active in Formula 2 with Prema Racing, holding an FIA Silver classification for sportscar racing. His Racer Rating of 5,424 places him among established professionals; he competes at the level of a full-time driver capable of winning in strong fields, though his record to date shows consistent mid-field competence rather than outright dominance. Across 154 starts spanning nine seasons from 2017 onwards, Montoya has accumulated 19 podiums but no wins, averaging a finishing position of tenth across classified results.[1]

Montoya's career has progressed through the junior single-seater ranks and into endurance racing. He spent three seasons in Formula 3 with Campos Racing between 2022 and 2024, gathering two podiums across 40 starts, before stepping up to Formula 2 in 2025 with Prema Racing, where he has taken four podiums in 41 starts to date. His earlier work included Italian F4 and ADAC F4 campaigns with Prema Powerteam in 2020 and 2021, where he showed greater relative success with nine podiums in 34 Italian F4 races. He has also raced in endurance machinery, competing in IMSA WeatherTech and the European Le Mans Series in 2022 and 2023 respectively. Throughout his career, Montoya has regularly faced established professionals and former champions; against two-time champion Leonardo Fornaroli and fellow multiple champions Gabriele Minì and Dino Beganovic, he trails significantly in head-to-head records across dozens of shared races. He has occasionally beaten drivers of considerably higher calibre, including Platinum-graded professionals such as Gabriel Bortoleto and Arvid Lindblad, though these remain isolated results rather than patterns. His current Formula 2 campaign includes a podium finish at Spielberg in June 2026.[2]
