🇲🇽 Rafael Villagomez

Rafael Villagomez is an established professional competing in international open-wheel racing. He races for Van Amersfoort Racing, the team that has fielded him through most of his career in single-seater championships; he currently competes in Formula 2, where he drives in both the FR1 and FR2 classes across a multiclass grid shared with professional and semi-professional entrants.[1]

Villagomez has spent eight seasons racing in the indexed record since 2018, progressing through British F4, Euroformula Open, and Formula 3 before moving to Formula 2 in 2024. Across 165 starts he has taken 10 podiums, with 4 coming in Euroformula Open in 2021 and 5 in Formula 2 since 2024. His Formula 2 campaign, now in its third year, has seen him find form in the middle of 2026, taking three podiums in four races and moving into a rhythm with the team by mid-season.[2]

In Formula 2 he regularly meets established professionals including Jak Crawford, who typically finishes ahead of him, and Kush Maini, a Silver-graded driver with whom he is closely matched. Villagomez has finished ahead of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, a generational driver and multiple Formula 4 and Formula Regional European champion who has since moved to Formula 1, on three occasions, and has beaten the elite professional Isack Hadjar, who competed in Formula 1, five times.
