🇬🇧 Cian Shields

Cian Shields is a professional single-seater driver racing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for AIX Racing. He holds an FIA Silver grading, which places him below the full professional grades but in the category typically occupied by drivers progressing to the highest level. Shields has completed five seasons of racing, moving through national and international junior championships and now competing in a multiclass formula racing environment across nineteen countries.[1]

His breakthrough came in 2023, when he won four races in the Euroformula Open and finished as championship runner-up in that single-class series. He stepped up to Formula 3 in 2024 before joining Formula 2 the same year, where he remains with AIX Racing. Across all indexed series, he has taken five wins and thirteen podiums from 120 starts. In GB3, his sole domestic campaign, he finished tenth in the standings with one win and three podiums from a full season in 2022.[2]

Shields regularly races against established professionals and drivers with substantial single-seater experience. He usually finishes behind Dino Beganovic, a Formula Regional European champion who has raced extensively at this level and above, and similarly trails John Bennett in direct competition. His record against the strongest drivers in his path has been limited; he finished ahead of Isack Hadjar, an elite professional who has raced in Formula 1, and of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, a generational talent and Formula Regional European champion, once each. AIX Racing, the team fielding him in Formula 2, is a smaller operation with established infrastructure, having also fielded Joshua Dürksen, an established professional.
