Philippe Gache is a French established professional who raced single-seaters and shared-car endurance machinery across a career spanning five indexed seasons from 1989 to 2002. He competed in International Formula 3000 for Apomatox between 1989 and 1991, taking 24 starts, and later raced the FIA GT Championship for SMG between 1997 and 2002, accumulating 11 endurance starts before his retirement. He holds an FIA Bronze grading, the amateur classification within sportscar racing.[1]
Over his Formula 3000 campaign, Gache raced in a field mixing amateurs and professionals. He finished ahead of established professional Allan McNish twice and beat three-time Formula 1 driver Alessandro Nannini three times; more consistently, he ran behind established professional Marco Apicella and professional Jean-Marc Gounon, who appeared regularly in his grid and outpaced him in the majority of their meetings. His shift to endurance racing in 1997 saw him contest five seasons in the FIA GT Championship, where he finished 36th in the final points standings in 2002, his only round of that season.[2]
Gache's principal ride came with Apomatox, which fielded him in 15 of his 35 career starts. The team won four races across its history and counted established professional Jean-Christophe Boullion among its strongest drivers, placing Gache in a competitive but secondary position within its lineup.
