🇨🇭 Jean-Denis Deletraz

Jean-Denis Deletraz is a professional endurance and single-seater racer rated 4,897, graded FIA Bronze in sportscar competition. He drove primarily for Phoenix Carsport Racing in the FIA GT Championship across 12 seasons from 1997 to 2008, racing shared GT cars in a field mixing amateurs with graded professionals. He also contested International Formula 3000 as a single-seater driver in the late 1980s and early 1990s, made three Formula 1 starts in the mid-1990s for Pacific, and raced in the WEC and Road to Le Mans in his final indexed appearances.[1]

Deletraz took eight wins across 74 FIA GT Championship starts, finishing on the podium 19 times in that series. He scored two podium finishes from 20 International Formula 3000 starts, and one podium from two Road to Le Mans entries in 2021. His Formula 1 career comprised three starts without a top-three finish. First Racing, the team for which he drove in International Formula 3000, won the 1989 and 1990 championships during his time there. Phoenix Carsport won the 2003 FIA GT Championship in the season when he contributed five starts to the campaign. His final racing activity came in the 2012 WEC, where he completed seven starts and finished twenty-first in the season standings.[2]

In the FIA GT Championship, Deletraz raced regularly against entry-level professionals including Christophe Bouchut, a two-time FIA GT champion, and Fabio Babini, a Platinum-graded endurance driver with deep experience in GT3 and prototype racing. Against both drivers he held his own across multiple meetings. He also finished ahead of established professionals including Nigel Mansell, the 1992 Formula 1 champion, and Alessandro Nannini, a Formula 1 veteran with 77 starts.
