Philipp Peter is an established professional who raced in endurance and single-seater categories from 1992 to 2013. He spent most of his career in the FIA GT Championship, where he drove shared GTE cars for Gigawave Motorsport across twelve seasons. Peter also competed in Formula 3 Macau as a solo driver and made a single WEC appearance in the LMGTE Am class in 2013.[1]
Peter took two wins and thirteen podiums across 81 starts. His primary record came in the FIA GT Championship, where he finished on the podium twelve times from 74 starts between 1997 and 2008. He secured a podium finish in his sole WEC entry and accumulated his six Formula 3 Macau starts as a younger driver in the early 1990s.[2]
In the FIA GT Championship, Peter was closely matched against Mike Hezemans, a Silver-graded professional who raced 117 starts in the series. He regularly finished behind Andrea Bertolini, a Gold-graded driver and three-time FIA GT Championship champion. Against stronger opposition from outside endurance racing, Peter finished ahead of Nigel Mansell, the 1992 Formula 1 world champion, once in their shared Macau entry, and ahead of Dario Franchitti, a four-time IndyCar champion, in another Macau race. JMB Racing fielded him for twenty of his starts and counted him among a roster of 65 drivers across its own programme.
