🇺🇸 Jacob Abel

Jacob Abel is an established professional competing across open-wheel and endurance racing. He races primarily for Abel Motorsports in Indy NXT, where he has spent much of his career since 2022, and for Era Motorsport in IMSA WeatherTech GT and prototype classes. He also competes in IndyCar, where he made his full-time series debut in 2025 and holds an FIA Silver grade.[1]

Abel has accumulated six wins and 31 podiums across 148 starts between 2018 and 2026. In Indy NXT he has taken three wins and 14 podiums from 44 starts, establishing himself as a consistent front-runner in that series. His single-seater record spans Formula Regional Americas, where he won three times in 36 starts and finished twelfth in the 2021 championship; Indy Pro 2000, where he took three podiums from 39 starts; and now IndyCar, where he is currently 25th in the championship after one round in 2026. In endurance racing, he has raced IMSA WeatherTech since 2021, taking two podiums across six starts in its GTD and LMP2 classes, and made his Asian Le Mans Series debut in 2026 with Vector Sport RLR.[2]

Abel races regularly against established professionals and series champions. He has finished ahead of Alex Palou, a five-time IndyCar champion and elite-level professional, once in IndyCar competition, and has twice beaten Pato O'Ward, an IndyCar competitor and 2018 Indy NXT champion. Against Kyffin Simpson, the 2021 Formula Regional Americas champion and fellow IndyCar regular, he has been closely matched. Christian Rasmussen, who won both the 2021 Indy Pro 2000 and 2023 Indy NXT championships, typically finishes ahead of him; the two have been regular opponents across multiple series.
