Klaus Ludwig is an established professional who raced in the FIA GT Championship, a shared-drive endurance series that fielded graded professionals alongside amateur and semi-professional entrants. Driving for AMG Mercedes, he competed across two seasons from 1997 to 1998, taking the 1998 FIA GT Championship with five wins and nine podiums from ten rounds.[1]

Ludwig's record in the series was 20 starts, 9 wins and 14 podiums. He was a regular frontrunner against the championship's established professionals; he typically finished ahead of Claudia Hürtgen and Bruno Eichmann, both seasoned competitors with substantial FIA GT and sportscar experience. His championship campaign culminated in first place in the season standings, securing the title in his second year.[2]

Ludwig's grid included Mark Webber, then competing in FIA GT before his later rise to the elite level of Le Mans Prototypes and Formula 1, and Allan McNish, an established professional with extensive Formula 1 and international single-seater racing behind him.
