Gary Evans is an established professional who raced in International Formula 3000 between 1986 and 1989, competing in a single-class championship that fielded amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals together. He made 30 starts across four seasons, primarily for Madgwick Motorsport and later GBDA Motorsport.[1]
Evans finished 18th in the 1989 Formula 3000 championship standings. His record placed him among established professionals in a field that included drivers who would go on to race in Formula 1 and international sportscar championships. He regularly competed against Claudio Langes and Pierre-Henri Raphanel, both established professionals with similar Formula 3000 experience, and finished ahead of Raphanel on three occasions and Luis Perez-Sala, who went on to make 26 Formula 1 starts, twice.[2]
