Mike Thackwell is a retired racing driver from New Zealand who competed in Formula 3 Macau during the mid-1980s. Between 1984 and 1985, he contested six rounds of the Formula 3 Macau series for Eddie Jordan Racing, securing six podium finishes without achieving a victory. His most recent racing activity occurred in 1985, when he completed three rounds of the Formula 3 Macau season and finished second overall in the championship standings while recording three podiums.[1]
Thackwell's motorsport career also extended to Formula 1, where he became one of the youngest drivers to qualify for a Grand Prix. Making his debut on 28 September 1980 at the Canadian Grand Prix, he participated in five Formula 1 races without scoring championship points. His racing career at the highest levels of the sport eventually concluded in the mid-1980s.[2]
