Dino Butorac is an entry-level professional who raced in the Formula Renault Eurocup, a single-class open-wheel championship that fielded amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals in the same field. He drove for RB Racing Team and contested four rounds in 2008, his only indexed season.[1]
Butorac finished 24th in the championship standings across those four starts. He occasionally bettered established opposition; he finished ahead of Nathanael Berthon, a Gold-graded professional with 25 Formula Renault Eurocup starts and a Formula 1 career, once, and ahead of Luciano Bacheta, a Silver-graded professional with 35 starts in the series, on one occasion.[2]
He raced regularly against Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne, both of whom would go on to establish themselves as elite professionals. Ricciardo became a Formula 1 driver and won the 2010 Formula V8 3.5 championship; Vergne won consecutive Formula E titles in 2017 and 2018. Butorac usually finished behind both of them.
