Eric Thompson is an entry-level professional who raced in two American single-class and multiclass championships between 2013 and 2024. He competed in NASA's Spec Miata class, driving a Mazda MX-5 in spec trim, and drove a GT4 car in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge for BSI Racing. His indexed record spans six starts across both series.[1]

Thompson took two wins and two podiums in his four NASA starts in 2013, when he finished 70th in the championship standings. He returned to racing a decade later with two starts in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge in 2024, competing in a multiclass field that mixed amateurs, semi-professionals and graded professionals. In his limited outings he was closely matched with Marcus Mazza, a club-level driver with extensive experience in NASA and American Endurance Racing, and typically finished ahead of Amy Mills, a competitive amateur regular in SCCA Majors and NASA. Thompson also beat the professional driver Moisey Uretsky, who has substantial credits in IMSA Pilot Challenge and Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup, and Scott Blind, an entry-level professional and multiple-time Porsche championship winner across three seasons in 2025.[2]
