Michael Carter is an entry-level professional competing in national single-class and multiclass sprint racing in the United States. He races Mazda MX-5 machinery primarily; his main series is the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin, where he competes for Carter Racing Enterprises, a small team that has also fielded a professional-level driver. He won the 2020 Whelen Cup championship and remains active in that series alongside SCCA competition.[1]
Carter's record across nine seasons spans the Whelen Cup, NASA's Spec Miata class, and SCCA Majors and Regionals, where he has accumulated 12 wins and 36 podiums from 81 starts. In the Whelen Cup he has been most consistent, taking 6 wins and 21 podiums across 50 starts; his 2020 title was won with Carter Racing Enterprises. In NASA racing he has been particularly strong, winning 5 of 9 starts in the Spec Miata class. His SCCA record comprises 22 starts across Majors and Regionals with 1 win and 7 podiums.
