Sam Paley is a semi-professional driver competing across multiple national racing disciplines in the United States. Rated 3,685, he holds an FIA Silver grade in sportscar and endurance racing, a classification indicating a driver progressing beyond amateur ranks but not yet at the established professional level. His primary base has been McCumbee McAleer Racing, where he contested the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup over four seasons beginning in 2020, but he has since expanded into solo-driver championships and endurance competition, most recently establishing his own operation, Paley Motorsport, in 2024.[1]

Paley's career began in 2017 with formula car racing and progressed through US F4 in 2020 before settling into the single-make Mazda MX-5 Cup, where he accumulated nine podiums across 38 starts through 2023 and earned Rookie of the Year honours in 2021. Since 2024 he has diversified his schedule significantly, contesting the solo-driver Mustang Challenge and the multiclass endurance IMSA Pilot Challenge alongside continued Mazda racing. His Mustang Challenge tenure has been his most successful to date, yielding two wins and eight podiums from 16 starts, while IMSA Pilot Challenge competition in the GT4-level GS class has yielded one podium from seven entries. In 2026 he entered the Zenith Racing Series and currently sits 17th in its championship standings with one round completed.[2]

Paley has raced consistently against Aaron Jeansonne, a professional Silver-graded driver with comparable Mazda and NASA experience, and they have remained closely matched in head-to-head competition. His record against Gresham Wagner, the 2021 Mazda MX-5 Cup champion and another Silver-graded professional, shows Wagner as the faster of the two more often than not. Paley has finished ahead of more accomplished drivers in individual races: he has beaten Kyffin Simpson, a Gold-graded established professional and Formula Regional Americas champion, four times, and the multiple-time ARCA champion Sammy Smith once, though these represent isolated results rather than sustained advantage in series where those drivers competed at higher levels and with greater frequency.
