James Kennedy competed in karting at the SKUSA SuperNationals level across two seasons from 2006 to 2007, recording two starts with one victory and one additional podium finish. His Racer Rating of 2,581 places him in the competitive amateur band; this represents the front end of club racing, characterised by genuine competition licences and genuine results in fields where drivers do not typically meet full professionals. Kennedy's limited record shows he achieved results against stronger drivers in isolated races, including victories over a Silver-graded professional in Phil Giebler and over Rafa Matos, who would go on to win national championships in Star Mazda and Trans-Am.
