Joel Karns raced at club level, competing in multiclass endurance and solo sprint racing across American Endurance Racing, NASA and PCA Club Racing between 2009 and 2019. He drove production-based cars in endurance events, including shared-driver races in AER's Classes 1, 2 and 3, and spec machinery in NASA's Spec Miata, Spec E30 and 944 Spec classes alongside a Porsche in PCA Club Racing.[1]

Karns took seven wins and seventeen podiums across 62 starts. His record centers on American Endurance Racing, where he scored seven wins and eleven podiums in thirty starts across the four years he competed there. In NASA he finished on the podium five times in twenty-nine starts, primarily in Spec Miata trim. His indexed racing ended with three PCA Club Racing starts in 2010, which yielded one podium and a 12th-place championship finish.[2]

His competitors were club and developing drivers; he typically finished ahead of Tom Lutker, a developing-level NASA regular, and raced closely with Gene Mcmurray, another club-level American Endurance Racing regular. His strongest scalps came in endurance fields, where he finished ahead of Steven Thomas, a professional-level Bronze-graded driver and 2025 International GT championship winner, twice, and ahead of Michael de Quesada, an entry-level professional with IMSA and Porsche Carrera Cup experience, once.
