John Beam is a club-level driver, rated 1,129, who raced in American Endurance Racing from 2015 to 2019. This rating places him in the developing to early club category; his career consisted of 16 starts over five seasons, producing one win and seven podiums. His average finishing position of P5.5 in classified races suggests he competed at the front of amateur fields without establishing a consistent pattern of dominance.[1]
Beam's competitive record against regular rivals shows a driver operating at parity with peers of similar rating. Against Brooke Hovey and Keith Oldt, both rated in the low 1,000s, he was evenly matched, finishing ahead in half their shared races. He had a stronger head-to-head record against Joel Karns (1,143), finishing ahead seven times in eight meetings, but struggled against Michael Dequevedo (1,061) and finished behind John Ryan Lewis (1,645), the 2019 American Endurance Racing Class 3 champion, in six of their eight shared races. A notable achievement across his career was occasional victories against significantly stronger competition; he beat established professionals including Michael Hurczyn (3,095, a former American Endurance Racing class champion) once, and also produced single results ahead of national-level drivers Mark Smith and Nicholas Shanny.
Beam's final season in 2019 saw him finish 55th in the American Endurance Racing field across two rounds, taking one podium. He has not raced since.
