Marco Schelp is an entry-level professional who raced in national multiclass endurance championships at the Nürburgring, driving modified production-based race cars in the SP 6 and SP 7 classes of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and a single outing in the Nürburgring 24 Hours. He competed for clickvers.de TEAM Porsche and Manthey Racing across his career.[1]
Schelp raced from 2010 to 2019, taking 40 starts in endurance events where drivers shared cars across the race distance. He scored one win and ten podium finishes, all in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, where he was a regular entrant over seven seasons before a final appearance at the 24-hour classic in 2019.[2]
He raced regularly against established operators in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie. Frank Stippler, a Platinum-graded professional and series champion, and Klaus Abbelen, a Bronze-graded entry-level professional and former SP 9 champion, were frequent competitors; Schelp finished ahead of both drivers across their meetings. He also finished ahead of Maro Engel, an established professional and 2024 GT World Challenge Europe champion who has contested 31 Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie races, and Timo Bernhard, a Platinum-graded established professional who won the 2016 WEC LMP1 championship.
